Our Client based in the North West are looking for a Theatre Practitioner with a passion for Anaesthetics and Recovery. You will be involved in all types of operations, so any type of experience will be accepted as we are willing to cross train / up skill.

Their Hospital is a brand new, £65m state-of-the-art healthcare facility offering patients a wide range of integrated surgical, medical and diagnostic services. The rapidly expanding team in Manchester consists of over 500 colleagues, who thrive in the welcoming atmosphere that is friendly, supportive and progressive.

Our Nurses and clinicians are given time support their patients as the majority of procedures are scheduled, so numbers and staffing levels are planned in advance to give a much lower patient to Nurse ratio. We cover a wide variety of cases including specialist Cosmetic and Paediatric services alongside Orthopaedics and many others. Our patients are involved in all decisions made and you can really help make an impact on their ongoing care.

Package

Salary: £28,180 per year

Full time permanent role

37.5 hrs pw

About the role

  • Assess patient’s health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload.
  • Assist in the delivery of care to meet patient’s health and wellbeing.
  • Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
  • Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others.
  • Promotes best practice in health and safety and security.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing services.
  • Contribute to quality improvement.
  • Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights
  • Apply technology for measurement, monitoring and treatment.
  • Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Discuss, agree and explain responsibilities for assessment of patients including their needs and any associated risks.
  • Explain role, responsibility, accountability and scope of practice for the assessment of a group of patients requiring perioperative care.
  • Promote patient’s rights and wishes during the assessment, gain informed consent.
  • Identify peoples’ health needs through observation, discussion and the use of technical assessment methods.
  • Obtain information on patient’s care needs within the overall context of their personal and perioperative requirements.
  • Collect collate and organise data, interpret all of the information and make a justifiable assessment, make this available to relevant others.
  • Identify the implication of the patient’s assessment in order to formulate a programme of care.
  • Transfer and apply appropriate skills and knowledge to new needs and issues.
  • Identify and report any significant changes that might affect the patient’s health and well-being to the appropriate person if outside your scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner
  • Working in teams and with minimum supervision
  • Competence across a range of skills, supported by professional and clinical knowledge acquired through state registration/practitioner qualification and additional training.
  • Possess the mandatory training requirements for role including infection control and health and safety competencies.
